This seminar is aimed at both general obstetricians, and obstetricians who specialise in the prevention and management of preterm birth. It would also be of interest to sonologists, sonographers and fetal medicine specialists who manage patients at high risk. Topics include a review of our modern understanding of the causes of preterm birth, how to manage patients at high risk of preterm birth, the possible role of cervical elastography, and the pros and cons of routines cervical length screening. We will learn how a population intervention program in Australia helped to reduce the risk and the current state of play of antenatal steroids.
