Femtosecond laser expertise

Experimental physicists at the Blackett Laboratory Laser Consortium bring their expertise in high intensity short-pulse lasers to external companies through Imperial Consultants.

Professor John Tisch is an experimental physicist working in the Quantum Optics and Laser Science group at Imperial College London. He develops technology for the generation, measurement and manipulation of high-power femtosecond laser pulses. He’s especially interested in the application of femtosecond lasers in the production of coherent x-rays pulses of duration down to the attosecond domain. These x-ray pulses are being used to observe and manipulate the motion of electrons in matter on the attosecond time scale and angstrom length scale.

Research and academic organisations wanting access to expertise and state-of-the-art technology related to femtosecond lasers and the applications (including materials processing and x-ray generation) have used Imperial Consultants to hire experts such as Professor Tisch. He’s constructed, installed and tested a number of femtosecond pulse compressors for organisations such as the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.

If you think your organisation could benefit from Imperial's laser expertise, please get in touch.
