Earth observation characterisation facility (EOCF)

The EOCF is a resource for the development of instrumentation across a broad range of research applications, including a vacuum room, a clean room and optics and fabrication facilities.

Users of the facility have access to cutting-edge expertise from Imperial's Department of Physics. Their world-class researchers can provide solutions in the areas of optics, electronics and mechanical design.

Facilities include:

  • Vacuum calibration chamber - supporting the calibration of space-based radiometers
  • Clean room - maintained at class 1000 (class G)
  • 4 high-grade optical worksurfaces
  • Workshop - machining, welding and fabrication capabilities
