Imperial is one of three UK universities to be ranked in the top ten, along with Oxford in 4th and Cambridge in 6th. These rankings take into account research, teaching, citations, international engagement and industrial income.
Phil Baty, THE World University Rankings Editor, congratulates Imperial on their position: “Our table of the top 200 represents approximately the top 1 per cent of higher education institutions worldwide, and so securing an improved placing within this year’s top 10 is an outstanding achievement.”
British higher education and research expertise achieved a glowing report, with 23 UK universities featuring in the top 150.
These results come at a time when Imperial Innovations, a leading technology and commercialisation group spun out from the College, is calling for the UK government to raise the profile of research at Britain’s top universities. With evidence that UK research and innovation can compete on an international stage, it is clear that universities could provide a source of growth closer to home.
