01 Dec 2011 The Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC) in Abu Dhabi has been featured in the latest issue of Reporter, Imperial's staff magazine, showcasing its campaign to address the high prevalence of diabetes across the United Arab Emirates.

The Centre, which opened in 2006 as a collaborative venture between Imperial College London, Imperial Consultants and Mubadala Development Company, aims to understand, tackle and prevent diabetes in the country. Epidemiological, basic, clinical and genetic research into diabetes in UAE is a key focus, alongside medical training for clinical staff and increasing public awareness of the disease. Imperial Consultants provided academics on a consultancy basis to assist with the planning and layout of the Centre, design and delivery of medical training and set up of a specialist Treatment Centre.
