Rewarding consultancy

58 Princes Gate
14 Dec 2010 Imperial Consultants would like to thank the College and its staff for making 2010 such a successful year. With a turnover exceeding £15m, we helped generate some much needed income for faculties and departments.

We helped to generate nearly £5m of additional departmental income, through promoting and negotiating commercial access to expert advice and research equipment for measurement, testing and analysis. Departments have used these funds to cost in new staff, purchase necessary equipment and upgrade existing facilities. For example, consultancy work undertaken in Mechanical Engineering enabled the department to repair and calibrate a load cell in the stress fractures lab.

Imperial Consultants generated an additional £1.1m profit in 2009/10 and through gifting it to the Imperial College Trust this is distributed as unencumbered funds to departments, faculties and the College.

The National Heart and Lung Institute and Mechanical Engineering led the way in generating new business this year. In 2011 we will continue to expand activities in the Natural Sciences area, following the escalating needs of the Energy sector.

Thanks to everyone at the College who helped make this year such a success.

Over the years Imperial Consultants has firmly established itself as a world leading academic consultancy provider and is the College’s preferred and only official route for consultancy activities. With an annual turnover of £15.1m, we generated more income than our Oxford, Cambridge and UCL counterparts combined. Our success is founded on the internationally recognised expertise of the College’s academics and their inter-disciplinary and innovative approach to problem solving.
