The Environmental and Water Resource Engineering section plays a leading role in national and international research activities as well as providing advice and guidance to governments and international agencies.
Its research areas cover hydrology, urban flooding, sustainable water management, innovation and performance measurement, rainfall-runoff modelling, impacts on flood risk, drinking water contaminants, water treatment methods and smart methods of monitoring water supply and sewer systems.
Many of its researchers have acted as expert witnesses in key cases such as the State of Nevada’s case against the Yucca Mountain repository in the US.
In addition, Imperial Consultants has been the project management consortium member in European projects such as HiWATE, which studies the health impacts of long-term exposure to disinfection by-products in drinking water and is led by Imperial College London.
