Green Technology

With Imperial’s expertise in engineering, physics, energy policy and chemistry, green technologies are more achievable than ever.

Today’s energy technologies are all about efficiency, sustainability and environmental impact. The Energy Futures Lab acts as a focus for all the energy research across the College. Projects cover solar panel development, electric vehicles, sustainable hydrogen production, biofuels, smart grids and carbon capture and storage.

Making current technology more efficient is another key area of research. From more energy efficient turbochargers to developing cleaner fossil fuels, improving current technologies and processes is a key aim of Imperial researchers. The Process Systems Engineering group have worked with a number of companies including BASF, Shell and Proctor & Gamble, optimising processes and increasing efficiency.
