One of the greatest challenges facing us today is ensuring a secure energy supply for the future. Within the College, the Energy Futures Lab acts as a focus for all the energy research across the university. Projects cover solar panel development, electric vehicles, sustainable hydrogen production, biofuels, smart grids and carbon capture and storage.
Imperial has strong relationships with some of the world’s biggest energy companies, including Shell, BP, E.ON, Schlumberger, BNFL and Total.
The Centre for Petroleum Studies at Imperial has one the largest concentrations of petroleum scientists and engineers in a UK university.
Nuclear research is also strong within the College, as well as energy policy and process engineering.
