The Advantages Of Consulting Through Imperial Consultants

When College employees conduct work for external clients through Imperial Consultants, they are covered by our comprehensive professional indemnity and travel insurance. Imperial Consultants therefore minimise the academic’s exposure to legal and personal liabilities.

Imperial Consultants provides an experienced, professional service with full administrative back up to take ensure projects run to time, budget and quality. By negotiating the contract and administering all aspects of the contract (including financial) we allow the academic to focus on the work for the external client.

Imperial Consultants’ has an experienced contract negotiation team who are able to negotiate the best commercial rates for the academic’s work and aims to ensure the academic may use the results in their research and teaching. Imperial Consultants provides college staff and external clients with the only route to allow full association with, and endorsement by, Imperial College for consultancy work. Another advantage is that the college staff’s work will be officially acknowledged and can be included in RAE returns where appropriate. Our financial team handles the invoicing of the external client, chasing any debts and payment to the academic in a tax-efficient manner.

As Imperial College has charitable status, it is not permitted to undertake any trading activities, such as consultancy. Imperial College London Consultants (Imperial Consultants) was therefore established in 1991 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Imperial College London, to facilitate the provision of consultancy by College employees to external organisations.
