Project Management

Imperial Consultants specialises in running complex inter-disciplinary collaborative projects with a consortium of partner universities, research establishments, SMEs and industry.  The main funding donor for these long-term projects is the European Commission through its Framework Programmes as Imperial College was an active participant since FP4-FP5 and now under ongoing projects for FP6 (2001-2006) and FP7 (2007-2013).

Imperial Consultants is a key partner in the collaborative project consortium dealing with:

• Consortium building and risk analysis (including the Consortium Agreement where necessary)
• Proposal preparation and submitting
• Negotiations with the funding donor (European Commission, World Bank, Europe Aid, various UK departments, international charities, etc)
• Contract signing and preparation
• Consortium management including admin-financial activities including advice and collating costs statements, budget forecasts
• Acts as a communication hub between the coordinator institution, the funding donor and the members of the consortium
• Event management and organising workshops, conferences, training activities
• Dissemination including dedicated websites and e-document management systems, knowledge management (setting up databases and project specific libraries), coordinating publications
• Intellectual property management on behalf of the consortium
• Stakeholder management and dealing with the project’s scientific advisory boards.

These project and consortium management activities required by the funding donors for complex interdisciplinary projects are freeing the academics to do research and also establish a collaborative and informative working environment enhancing the networking between academia, research and industry.
