Profile: Alistair McDermott
Alistair McDermott is responsible for the delivery of Imperial Consultants' testing & analysis, expert witness and consultancy projects.
Alistair joined Imperial Consultants in January 2010. He has previously worked for two of the UK’s research councils managing research funding portfolios and developing research and knowledge transfer strategies. Alistair has also managed a research office at Sheffield Hallam University where he developed research strategy, advised on research applications, grants and contracts, and created a portfolio of staff development courses.
Alistair graduated from the University of Sheffield with an honours degree in Materials Science and was subsequently awarded a PhD for research into biomedical glass ceramics. He has undertaken a variety of research projects including biomaterials, antiperspirant sticks and car body parts using a variety of analytical techniques specialising in crystallisation. Alistair recently obtained his MBA from the Open University Business School.
